Notables
Not only is this the Orioles’ best start in team history, it is also their first seven-game win streak since 2005. The 2005 Orioles had an eight-game win streak from April 22 to May 1.
Joey Rickard hit safely in his seventh consecutive game. It is the longest batting streak to start the season for an Orioles rookie. The longest streak for any Orioles player to start his career in Baltimore belongs to David Newhan, who had hits in his first 15 at-bats games for the O’s.
J.J. Hardy had his 12th two-homer game, and his eighth two-homer game as a member of the Baltimore Orioles. Last year is the only season with the Orioles in which Hardy has not had a two-homer game. His multi-homer games for the O’s have come on July 26, 2011, July 28, 2011, Aug. 12, 2011, May 6, 2012, Sept. 11, 2012, June 1, 2013, Aug. 8, 2014, and Tuesday night. He has never had more than two home runs in a game.
Quotables
“Everybody trusts one another,” Hardy said. “It really is a good lineup and it’s fun to be part of.”
“I had so much fun after we tied it up and got the lead. That was amazing. This offense is fun to watch. I’m just like every other baseball fan. I like seeing home runs and I like seeing runs scored. It’s good when it’s your team.” – Mike Wright
“I have a good seat every night. Assume the position and see what the boys have in store for me that night. Something happens every night where I say, ‘Hmmm, I haven’t seen that before.’ I get a great seat. It’s fun to watch it. It’s a group that’s easy to pull for.” – Buck Showalter
Victory Song
My wife has coined the phrase “Orioles Magic Carpet Ride.” With that in mind, here’s today’s victory song, Steppenwolf’s “Magic Carpet Ride.”
